The Montreal Hub mobilizes the best sustainability science to advance sustainability transformations in Canada and around the world
We’re a network of Canadian researchers and innovators, collaborating across disciplines and sectors, to connect local projects to Future Earth’s global sustainability initiatives.
Connecting local and global networks
From Montreal, we coordinate with Global hubs in Paris, Stockholm, Tokyo and Colorado and a constellation of Regional and National offices to help generate and share the knowledge needed to support global transformations towards sustainability.
The city of Montreal, with its four world-class universities, a concentration of multilateral policy and research institutions, and a thriving AI sector, offers a vibrant ecosystem to promote this work throughout our Canadian network.
What we do
The Montreal Hub supports Canadian sustainability scientists in three key ways:

Facilitate research and innovation
Future Earth focuses on two high-priority, cross-cutting Global Systemic Challenges. The first, Earth Targets, provides the much-needed science behind the target-setting process for systems like land, water, and biodiversity. The second encourages Societal Transformations for a Healthy and Equitable Planet.
Build and mobilize networks
As a convenor of networks, we aim to build the field of transdisciplinary sustainability science, gathering academia, business, nongovernmental organizations, and governments to address global sustainability challenges.
Shape the narrative
We help incorporate the latest science into global decision-making and engage in public dialogue on sustainability solutions.
